Did you know? Boccia (bocce ball) is one of Italy’s oldest games. It dates back to the Roman Empire and grew popular during the 13th Century. While a lot of regions in Italy still play the sport today it seems as if it is losing a bit of its luster overtime. Do you think the game will be revived in some way or will it eventually go away and only be played by a very few?
In Northern Italy, “bocce” isstill played on a regular basis. There’s even a big park near my home where they have a special designed space to play the sport.
It’s true, however, that the elderly are usually the ones playing. The younger generation seems to be preoccupied with different kinds of sports so I really hope bocce ball losing its appeal won;t become an issue in the future!
