Giro d'Italia 2018

2018 Giro d’Italia is underway and starting today in Jerusalem’s Old City. As in recent times, it is quite often for a Grand Tour to start in another country (13th time outside Italy for Giro…this is a premiere of any Grand Tour to start outside Europe on another continent) for promotional reasons mostly. So, the first 3 stages will happen in Israel, after which they’ll return to Italy for 18 further stages. This year, the Tour will finish in Rome on the 27th of May.

It is the 101st edition of the Giro d’Italia, one of cycling’s Grand Tour races.

The main pre-race favorites are Chris Froome (Team Sky), defending champion Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) and Fabio Aru (UAE Team Emirates).

Il Giro ended yesterday with Chris Froome being crowned as winner of the 2018 Giro d’Italia. What a tour it was. I would venture to say it was the most entertaining of all grand tours within the last few years.

The 19th Stage, Venaria Reale to Bardonecchia, will go into history as one of the most memorable stages in cycling history.
